Methodology

Project

The project will be completed in steps, comprising:

  • Creation of EuroLibs and criteria
  • Design of pedagogic activities and piloting them
  • Completion of Teacher Guide and pedagogical Kit
  • Teacher Training Workshops and filming
  • Dissemination online and offline (Book Fair)
  • Sustainability - Association for the EuroLibs

Creation of EuroLibs and criteria

The initial step was dedicated to the parameters for the EuroLib books and then to build the libraries. This included the type of books, languages, age range, illustration and text etc.

Design of pedagogic activities

  • The exact pedagogic activities included 2 areas:
  • Tasks based directly on individual books
  • Tasks based around a number or all the books in the library

They included tasks to be completed before the library arrives, during the visit and afterwards.

Piloting
In the school all activities were piloted and, based on the revision process, the final pedagogic materials completed and uploaded on the website.

Completion of Teacher Guide and pedagogical Kit
The library is accompanied by full guides for the teachers and a pedagogic kit. These items are included as hardcopies and CD versions, with the library and also available online.

Teacher Training Workshops and filming
Training of teachers in using the library and the tasks was planned to take place in 4 countries, but 7 workshops took place in 5 different countries. Videos were made of the training and placed on the Internet site for additional teachers.

Dissemination online and offline (Book Fair)
The project was disseminated widely across Europe, inviting schools to schedule a visit of the library and add their name to the booking list. The project also exhibited at the Children’s book fair in Sastamala, Finland.
